On April 19, 2025, nearly 800 community members filled 6th Avenue in downtown Moline to honor the spirit of Revolution Day — a reminder that America was founded on resistance to tyranny. Marking 250 years since the start of the Revolutionary War, the rally called attention to modern threats against democracy, rights, and freedoms.

Organized by the Liberty and Justice Movement, the event brought together veterans, union members, educators, and concerned citizens. Signs like “No Kings, No Tyranny”, “Hands Off Social Security”, and “Defend Our Constitution” lined the streets as speakers addressed attacks on civil liberties, workers’ rights, and public services under the Trump administration.

The energy was both patriotic and urgent. From Revolutionary-era costumes to symbolic displays of American flags, participants showed that defending democracy is a responsibility shared by all generations.

Speakers highlighted the dangers of authoritarian overreach, government downsizing, and erosion of constitutional protections. The message was clear: silence is not an option.

While national protests echoed across the country, Moline’s rally demonstrated that grassroots action is alive and strong here in the Quad Cities.

This is just the beginning. The Liberty and Justice Movement will continue to stand up for freedom, equality, and justice—just as Americans did in 1775.
