On Monday, May 26, community members gathered across from Bettendorf Veterans Memorial Park for a silent protest during U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks appearance at the city’s Memorial Day ceremony.
The demonstration was quiet but deliberate—no chanting, no signs waved, no disruption. Participants stood in silence, holding signs that reflected concern over Miller-Meeks’ voting record, particularly on issues affecting veterans and democratic rights.
This silent protest served as a reminder that honoring veterans includes standing up for the freedoms they defended—and holding leaders accountable when those values are under threat.
